Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a great 2011 and I’m wishing you the best in 2012. I’m really looking forward to this year and the photos that I’ll be able to share with you all and of course, the wallpaper will keep on coming! For the first wallpaper of the new year, I went with a slight design modification to help you better see the calendar portion. I had some feedback that the lettering was hard to read, so I added a low opacity box behind it. I hope that clears it up and makes it a little more useful!
This is the Surf City Pier in Surf City, NC. I hope it’s able to bring a little warmth to those of you who will soon be getting into the coldest part of winter this month!
As always, remember to share this with your friends- it’s FREE! Simply view it full size, right click and set as wallpaper, or save it to your desktop and set it that way.

December 2011 Wallpaper Calendar
For these I usually use my favorite image from the previous month. This time though, I thought it would be more appropriate to use a holiday themed photo from last December. If you’ve ever visited New Bern during Christmas, you know that downtown does a great job of decorating and getting into the holiday spirit!
There are a couple of options to download this image. First, click on the little icon in the right corner of the image to view it full size. Then you can right click on it and set it as your background or save it and set it from your local file. If you’re finding the quality isn’t what it should be, you may have a higher-res screen. For those of you, go here and download the highest res file. As always, it’s FREE. Share it with your friends and have a great holiday!

November 2011 Free Desktop Wallpaper Calendar
For my favorite shot of the past month, I had to go all the way back to the beginning of October. Some very exciting storm clouds rolled in and I had to go out and capture them! I love the definition of the billowing cloud coming down the river in New Bern, it almost looks 3D to me. So there you have it, November’s wallpaper! As always, just click the image to open it full size.
Remember, share it, it’s FREE!

For the second installment of the monthly wallpaper calendar series, I have chosen a shot taken at the very end of September as my favorite image of the month. Lightning is not an easy thing to capture and I’ve wanted to try for a very long time. I finally had an opportunity to on September 28 and after many attempts and mosquito bites to the legs, I finally captured one. It was very satisfying to have good outcome like this after tinkering with settings and composition for over an hour and finally put it all together at the end. So, there you have it; October 2011’s free desktop wallpaper!

I know it’s a weird time to start something like this (September, middle of the year) but I’m going to start releasing a new desktop wallpaper on the first of each month. I’ll feature one of my favorite shots of the past month as the wallpaper image. The wallpaper will feature a small calendar in the corner. It always helps me to have a calendar handy so that I can see what the date is, so I added it. If anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know! Enjoy!
This month’s image shot on Chincoteague Island, VA during a stunning sunrise. I went out to shoot it at 5am with my mom and dad and it is easily my most memorable shot from August, if not the whole year.
